LORD HURON – THE MANN CENTER

At this point I’m on Day 3 of my week long, east coast concert tour. I head down to the concierge lounge and have breakfast then back to the room to be lazy for a bit. I have to pace myself; its a marathon not a sprint. I head out for lunch and back the hotel before heading out again to The Mann Center. I have GA for this show so I had to get there fairly early. I was still probably 50 people back by the time I got there. This was my first live Lord Huron show and I have to say the band and its fans are pretty awesome folks. Certainly in the same vein as Jacket and their fans. Allison Ponthier opened for Lord Huron performing her first live tour show ever. Lord Huron melted faces throughout the crowd. Somehow I managed to get a signed concert poster I am still ecstatic about.

MY MORNING JACKET – THE MANN CENTER

I arose in the AM and went down for breakfast. I checked out about mid-morning and headed off to Philadelphia for the next 4 nights. I checked in to my hotel and immediately headed out to find a cold beer and lunch. I landed at Khyber Pass Pub on 2nd Street and was not disappointed. I found they had quite a nice Kolsch on tap and good fresh food to boot. I ended up bringing some back to stick in the fridge for after the show. This night I had 2nd row reserved seating so I was in no rush to get to the venue but did anyways because I wanted to converse with fellow fans in line. The weather all week was solid and on point. Ran into Matt, Meg, and some other folks. After showing our COVID test papers and checking in for VIP we all got right in. It was another spectacular show with Brittany Howard opening for My Morning Jacket.

MY MORNING JACKET – MERRIWEATHER POST PAVILION

I head out from home in the AM with a scheduled stop in Chester, MD to get a rapid COVID test which was required for admission to the venue. I checked in to my hotel and got settled in before heading out to Merriweather via Uber. The Uber driver dropped me off on the wrong side so I took a nice leisurely walk around the place. The weather was perfect. Upon getting to the VIP entrance I ran into Matt Hueston and a few other diehard fans. We chatted for a while and were finally let in after VIP check-in & verification of COVID tests or vaccinations. I had a pit ticket for this show and it was glorious to be on the rail. Brittany Howard opened for MMJ; she is a phenomenal artist. Jim’s voice was so much better than it was at Red Rocks in 2019. The rest did him very well. Made a few new friends as I always seem to do at shows and before we knew it the show was over and I was heading back to the hotel.

INTRODUCING MY NEW PICFAIR STORE

I just got my new Picfair Image Shop linked to my website today. If you like any of my images you can license them for your own use. You can also order prints and framed prints if you so choose. I get 100% of the proceeds of my sales. Picfair will add a small fee on top of my licensing price. Watermarks shown on the images will automatically removed upon purchase.

JOE RUSSO’S ALMOST DEAD

Spent Saturday in Baltimore tooling around Inner Harbor and nearby points. Ended the night with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead @ MECU Pavilion on Pier 6. Always meet great people at JRAD shows and this show was no exception. Shout out to new concert friends JP, Jeff, Leroy, & Gena for providing the proper pit party atmosphere! 😉 The requirement for full vax or negative test wasn’t so bad. The first folks I encountered were asking for ID and vax card or negative test. I showed my info and they weren’t recording anything. Then came metal detectors then ticket scan then into the venue. Much more painless than I thought it would be. I’ve got a few more shows between now and my 2nd shot. I’m hoping I don’t have to get a test for every one of them.
