I arose around 10am and went directly to the gym as I wanted to knock out my miles before Jerry arrived. I returned to the room, showered, and headed down to Tun Tavern for lunch. Jerry called, said he was arriving, and I said I’d meet him at the room.
Jerry got settled in and we went out to Caesars for lunch and some gambling. After, we came back to the hotel to get ready for Izakaya dinner reservations at 6pm in the Borgata.
We arrived a bit early at the Borgata and did some gambling before dinner. Dinner was fantastic. We choose the Chef’s Selection which is a 4-course pre-selected menu served home-style. Pictured in the featured image is our 3rd course items: Soy Glazed Salmon, Karaage “Hot” Fried Chicken, Brussel Sprouts, and Shrimp Fried Rice.
After dinner we gambled a bit more and called it a night.
I awoke this morning, got a shower, and hit the coffee shop for a breakfast sandwich and bottled water. I was off to Harrahs around 11am. I checked in at the spa and realized this is was going to be much more involved that just a simple massage. I didn’t know that my massage booking afforded me full run of the spas facilities all day. After my 80 minute aromatherapy massage I hit the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. Afterwards I took a shower and got squared away for the rest of the day. I would totally do that again.
I hunted down a light lunch, gambled a bit, and headed back to the hotel. I was pressed to get my 2 miles uphill in before the evenings activities started. My dinner reservation at Homestead Steakhouse was at 6:30pm. I arrived a bit early and they seated me right away. The food & service was phenomenal.
After dinner I headed towards the comedy club and got a sweet seat. No filming was allowed so no pics. The three comedians that performed were very funny and the show was quite enjoyable.
Hit the slot machines for a bit afterwards, located a sticky bun for late night munchies, and went back to the hotel to call it night.
I arrived in Atlantic City on Tuesday. The bar in the hotel was closed as was several other businesses that day. I stopped at the outlets and picked up a new cologne called “1 MILLION” which I liked then headed over to Caesars to see what was shaking. They were fairly busy. I gambled a bit and then hit the bar at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant inside Caesars. I drank a few Peroni drafts and had Wagyu meatballs & fries that were pretty darn good. I chatted with a local fellow for a while then headed back to the hotel.
I ended up not eating too much for dinner when I realized reservations were in order. When I got back to the hotel I booked Homestead steak house in the Borgata for tomorrow night.
I wasn’t about to let My Morning Jacket ruin my New Years. They announced the cancellation last week and I immediately set to work finding alternative events and locations. With my Denver stay I was going to bump up to the next level of rewards with my preferred hotel chain and I wasn’t going to let that slip away either. Eventually, I landed on Atlantic City, NJ. I was surprised that I could even find a room at the last minute. I booked it and started planning a 4-night stay.
I quickly learned that dinner reservations are a priority if you want a sit down dining experience. I booked Homestead Steakhouse in the Borgata for Weds. night & Izakaya in the Borgata for Thurs. night. I booked a spa day at Harrahs and a comedy club at the Borgata for Weds and Weds night respectively.
At this point I asked if my friend Jerry was doing anything for New Years and if he’d like to come party for a few days. He checked his schedule and was able to come up for Thursday and Friday. Then we booked Cuba Libre for dinner Friday night and bought two tickets to Kiss Kiss nightclub, both of which are located in the Tropicana.
Things were coming together and just in the nick of time too.
